This class will study the 10 Grave Precepts through reading, talks, discussion and practice. The precepts are the natural response of a Buddha. They are centuries-old guidelines for human conduct and spiritual practice that both inform and are informed by our innate wisdom and concentration. What does the mind and heart of Zen look like when engaged with the world? How can we live by moral principles in a non-dualistic way—a way that does not grasp at "right and wrong"? The basic text will be Tenshin Reb Anderson's, Being Upright, Zen Meditation and the Bodhisattva Precepts. Everyone is welcome to attend this class and it is required for Jukai candidates.
