Sailing Home

With Norman Fischer
Sailing Home book

We will spend a day in retreat with Zen teacher and author Norman Fischer reflecting on our life journey home. Norman will offer teachings from his new book, Sailing Home. The book is based on Homer's Odyssey, an ancient story that is significant for every generation: the struggle of a homesick, battle-weary human longing to return to love and family. Norman Fischer deftly incorporates Buddhist, Judaic, Christian, and popular thought, as well as his own unique and sympathetic understanding of life, in his reinterpretation of Odysseus's familiar wanderings. We will be invited to learn a new way to view our path, when to wait and when to act, when to speak our mind and when to exercise discretion, how to draw on our innate strength and distinguish between truth and deception, and how to deal with aging and changing relationships. Our reflections on Sailing Home will encourage us to renew bonds with loved ones and to make our lives a heart-centered journey of spirit and love.
