Interfaith Action & Resistance Through ISAIAH
Clouds in Water is an organizational member of ISAIAH, a statewide non-partisan group representing a broad spectrum of spiritual traditions and ethnic backgrounds who come together to support a true multi-racial democracy and a caring economy where everyone can thrive. In 2025/2026, ISAIAH is creating opportunities for clergy in Minnesota to organize their communities and take direct action to stop the consolidation of power and authoritarianism in the United States. Additionally, over a dozen of our sangha members are actively engaged in various ISAIAH initiatives.
There is some evidence from other countries that have faced authoritarian takeovers that it takes 3.5% of the population to resist in a public and organized way to turn the tide and prevent the solidification of authoritarianism in a country.
ISAIAH is the largest state based multiracial organization of its kind in the country, and it has made a difference in Minnesota policy and politics. ISAIAH has the statewide breadth, organizing experience and history of success that makes it the kind organization that can build the organized public resistance necessary in these times.
SAVE the DATE December 13, 2025, for the state wide ISAIAH convention being held at the Minneapolis convention center. Join 5000 other Minnesotans from ISAIAH across the state, where we will ratify an ISAIAH policy agenda, ground ourselves in the stakes of the moment, and get training on how we can shape the upcoming 2026 elections and continue public actions to address immediate threats. We are hoping to have at least 65 of us from Clouds in Water attend. To register use this link: https://secure.everyaction.com/ynRIqYiqZkO8JmuFnKMjaw2
If you are interested in getting involved before December 13, there is going to be an ISAIAH meeting in St. Paul on October 14, 2025, where we will vote on our St Paul/ East Metro part of the ISAIAH agenda (based on surveys and deep listening work we did at the beginning of the year). This meeting will also focus on preparing ourselves to protect our communities from the actions of the federal government on issues like education, the rights of immigrants and workers and cuts to Medicaid/SNAP. This meeting will be held on October 14 from 6:15-8:45, location TBD in Saint Paul. If you would like to attend, you can register here: https://secure.everyaction.com/I3BNP8r93EKQliJzS20wSQ2
