In Youth Practice at Clouds in Water, students will learn broader concepts of the dharma and mindfulness through instruction by dedicated Zen practitioners. Class time will center around learning about mindfulness through meditation and movement, as well as providing students with time for broader discussions of what mindfulness means to them. Our goal for students is to trust in their ability to practice mindfulness in practical and meaningful ways in their own lives. These lessons are often grounded in Buddhism, but we don't require either the children or parents to identify as Buddhists. The social and emotional learning we strive to offer in this program is beneficial for everyone! Some examples of topics that we discuss are teamwork, generosity, and kindness in speech and action.

Our youth, family and teen programs are committed to anit-racist and LGBTQ+ inclusive education. For more information, see Clouds in Water's Statement on Non-Harming.
