A Strategic Path of Action

On December 13 approximately 5,000 people showed up at the Minneapolis Convention Center. We were an incredibly diverse group of people from across the state, across class, race, and faith (including non-religious)–there to spend 5 hours of a Saturday afternoon getting grounded in the stakes of what is happening in our country and what we can do collectively and strategically to effectively resist and turn back this onslaught of dehumanizing policies and actions of the Trump administration.

I was so heartened to see so many Buddhists from several sanghas there.

Here is a link to a video recording of the two co-executive directors of ISAIAH (the organizers of this convention), which will give you a very good sense of what this was all about and the vision of ISAIAH’s path. Dec 13 Speech from Co-Executive Directors JaNae Imari and Alexa Horwart: ✨ ISAIAH Co-Executive Directors Share a Compass for These Times

There are 3 main parts of this strategic path:

  1. Using our power in the Minnesota caucuses to shape the agenda and the candidates for the upcoming 2026 election where every Minnesota state senator and representative, the Governor, and every state wide office holder including the attorney general are up for re-election.

  2. Show up and put pressure on every County commissioner in every county across the state, to take a stand on repealing the “Big Beautiful Bill,” also known as the “Bad Billionaire’s Bill”.

  3. Take part in direct disruptive and non-violent actions, including a February 18 action at the State Capitol, to call on our elected officials to take action and not sit by while thousands lose their food assistance and medical assistance.

ISAIAH is offering trainings on how to effectively participate in the Minnesota Caucuses in January.  Please contact anita@cloudsinwater.org if you would like more information on this path and training dates.
